Two classic tales are adapted to the big screen in this sumptuous double feature. Liam Neeson stars as Jean Valjean, a heartless convict who is transformed by a single act of mercy in LES MISERABLES. Uma Thurman, Claire Danes, and Oscar-winner Geoffrey Rush co-star in this excellent interpretation of a classic. In the Edith Wharton adaptation THE HOUSE OF MIRTH, Gillian Anderson is Lily Bart, a strikingly beautiful and socially prominent 1905 woman who nonetheless remains unmarried at the late age of 29. Lily is conflicted between her desire to marry a wealthy man and her love for another, who's handsome and elegant but decidedly poor.
